The Truth about Troy Dunn “The Locator”

I declare war on Troy Dunn the Locator Idiot

I have known for some time now that Troy Dunn is NO friend of the Adoption Community and is, instead, the kind of person who feeds off our hopes and fears in order to feed his ego and line his pockets. He is the worst kind of charlatan.

It’s Not a Debate over Paid Searches

I declare war on Troy Dunn the Locator IdiotWhile some folks do have issues about paid searchers in adoption, my feeling is that there are some folks who  can afford and really want to pay for a search.  And that is their choice. I would rather see others in our community doing what they love and getting paid to do it right by those who opt for that. The way I see it, then the people who cannot afford a search can utilize the many wonderful gifted Search Angels who do work for free. So having paid options for those that want it allows the Search Angels to help those that need it.

Troy Dunn does NOT fall into the category of a decent paid searcher or a member of the community.  He’s a blood sucker.

So I am happy to help set the record straight and share this from Search Quest America:. We need to lock the doors and never let this “LOCATOR”  fraud back into our community again.

SEARCH QUEST AMERICA DECLARES NO AFFILIATION WITH TROY DUNN

Hello Everyone, I am Lane Williams with Search Quest America.

We are a nationally-renowned adoption search and reunion firm and have received numerous inquiries regarding whether or not we work with Troy Dunn, and therefore, we are releasing the following information to set the record straight.

The founders of Search Quest America have worked with Troy on several projects since 1995. This started when he owned International Locator Inc., and continued even after he gave up his Florida Private Investigators and Agency Licenses and left International Locator when he went to work for Ancestry.com.

Eventually, Troy started pursuing television pilots for multiple television series. The first that made it to full production was “The Locator” – which was produced by Asylum Entertainment for the WE (Women’s Entertainment) network airing from 2008 thru 2010.

Susan Friel-Williams, the CEO of Search Quest America was the only Licensed Private Investigator used in locating the majority of the people featured in the reunions on the show. Susan and myself were the only legally Licensed Private Investigators shown in every season of the series.

Search Quest America also designed, built, hosted and maintained Troy’s website – TroyTheLocator.com – where the “The Locator” show promoted people to go and get help in their searches. When people visited the website and submitted a Search Request, they were sent to Troy’s “third party search provider” which was the team at Search Quest America – who would then evaluate the Search Requests and determined if there was enough information to provide an outstanding chance of a successful search.

If there was enough information to have a successful search, a search consultant from Search Quest America would call them and let them know their options to hire Search Quest America to perform their search. Susan also helped design and solely administered TroysList.org, which was tied to the main TroyTheLocator.com website. Over 145,000 e-mails were sent to people searching offering information and free search advice from Search Quest America.

Eventually Troy applied for and received a new Agency License for “DunnDeal Consultancy LLC” with a DBA of “Troy The Locator.”  I, Lane Williams was the Agency Manager for that entity and remained the only Licensed Private Investigator connected to his agency.

This arrangement continued through all of “The Locator” series as well as the “APB” series, which aired on the TNT Network in late 2013 and early 2014.  Although Search Quest America did not appear in the “APB” show, Susan and select members of the Search Quest America team did provide investigative services in locating many of the people touched by adoption who were reunited on the series.

The arrangement Search Quest America made as Troy’s third party search provider started in 2008 and ended in early 2014.  According to Troy, he has not charged anyone for doing a search since 2002 however he did receive compensation from Search Quest America as his third party search provider. This arrangement ended after the website traffic leads were diverted to his “Troy Alert” app and the requests coming in through the TroyTheLocator.com website dwindled.  Troy has since affiliated with a new third party search provider, which I assume he has a similar arrangement with him.

“So that there is no confusion we did design, develop and host Troy’s websites including TroyTheLocator.com, TroysList.org and DadGuard.com as well as helped in the development and provided support on the LocatorClub.com website,”

“However, all website properties have been released and turned over to Troy. We no longer work with or have any connection with Troy and I have resigned as his agency manager. As of this press release, his agency which was in an inactive status for over a year has been reactivated in April of 2015.”

Search Quest America continues to be a very successful adoption search and reunion firm, affiliating with and receiving search requests from several internet websites, local and nationwide search and support groups and other private investigative agencies. Search Quest America also provides investigative services for numerous media outlets – many of which you will see listed at the SearchQuestAmerica.com website.

Search Quest America is currently working on “investigative locates” for a new series to air in September 2015. More information to follow in a future press release.

About Claudia! Wow, you must be absolutely drained emotionally, phisically, mentally and spiritually to carry around so much hate. You’re clearly obsessed with Troy Dunn and the work he does and has done and it’s beyond offensive and ugly, especially when you put yourself out there as a champion of everyone ever involved in adoption!

Personally, you DON’T speak for me. You’re too angry, too full of hate and too damn ugly because of it. You come across as a disgusting bigot, hating because he is a Mormon or because he’s so successful and you should be ashamed! Tory Dunn’s program and efforts may not be the best choice for everyone but it seems to me that the work he’s done and continues to do helps certain people in need.

Here’s my suggestion to you, Claudia. Stop your bigotry, stop your hate, shut your ugly pie hole and let those of us in the community find our own way without posers like you pretending you speak for us.

    • And here’s my response to your”suggestion”: NO
Not trying to speak for you. No where did I say I did, but I happen to believe this simple thing called; INFORMATION. If you don’t find it useful or necessary for your life, then fine. But I’m not going to stop what I am doing because it doesn’t work for you.
Here’s my suggestion for you: if you hate me all that much, don’t comeback here.

Hi Craig, How bout coming back and engage a conversation? Get all facts and good points, and experiences that you know of in Troy’s favor and tell about that. It gives the ‘other side’/me something to consider instead of deflecting verbal blows or ignoring name calling.

Name calling doesn’t create any support or back-up for your point of view or for the person or belief you are wanting to support. Yeah, I know, sounds ‘preachy’. I say this because it’s what I need to work on ….as well… always! Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It is getting better and easier though to keep from feeling like an angry bull in a china shop when someone has an opinion or belief opposite of mine. Adoption issues often have that effect (or affect?).

Sometimes it’s just a matter of -‘gotta swim past the bait man’. Just swim right on past that hook that’s hanging there ready to grab ya and drag ya where you don’t wanna go.

That’s what a lot of things -are- that are said… bait. We all have to learn to swim past the stuff that’s attached to them nasty hooks (our individual hooks). At least until we learn how to take the bait (take what is said) and not get snagged and dragged to where we don’t really wanna go. If you find you get snagged.. take a walk, mow the yard, listen to some fav. music, sing. Hey, hitting sour notes kind a takes the snarf right out of me.. who knows? might work. Howling works too…but be aware of your surroundings. The ‘pack’ around you… might seriously misunderstand (~_~) This is best done at home/in private. Unless you’re with others who ‘get it’.

Has Troy helped you or someone you know? You obviously have a different point of view than Claudia and others of us. Name calling and anger isn’t educating me. I already know how to do those. Ask my family. I’m an expert in those departments. Whew! hoooooooooow- oooow, yip, yip, yooooow oow- oooowwwwwww. Peace.
