Yes, it is complex being a birth mother. This one act involves a duality of polar opposites. How can I be a victim of an industry, yet I made a choice? How can I be selfless and selfish at the same time? How I can I be a survivor, yet completely broken? How can I do the unthinkable, and then manage to carry on? How could I have been so weak as to lose my child, to not fight for him, and then so strong as to breath into another day?
LONG LOST FAMILY, the TV documentary series for TLC that aims to reunite family members, is looking for participants. The show is based off a UK version and is made by the “Who Do You Think You Are” folks.
The arrangement Search Quest America made as Troy’s third party search provider started in 2008 and ended in early 2014. To get your search found by the right person should they be searching for you. There are usually three things that are identifiers in an adoption search: Sex of the adoptee, birth date and location. These three things are usually known by both parties and not likely to be altered.
Open Groups, Closed Groups and Adoption Discussion pages on Facebook for adoption support, question or just making noise and causing trouble. There are a whole slew of adopting groups and pages on Facebook, if you can’t find one that fits your needs, then you are just not social!
I would caution anyone who is considering trying to be cast, that your story will be used possibly to promote a very untruthful, unicorn rainbow fart version of Adoption. I won’t judge anyone for using them for their free private investigative bit, especially if you are at wits end of a hard search, just don’t trust them. Use them, don’t let them use you!
Starting on July 1, 2014, Washington State adoptee 18 and older who were adopted on or before October 1, 1993 will able to request their original birth certificate with the passing of Senate House Bill 1525, minus, of course, the dirty nasty contact veto.
