7.	Day 7 of Adoption Activism; NAAM2013 Today Show and Craigslist! If you are bored, these two activities should keep you busy!

The Today Show’s Week of Adoption Propaganda

So today is the final day of the Today’s Show week long adoption stories push. I have to admit that I really did not join in myself as much as I probably should have, but I just didn’t have it in me.  I find that I am better with real public discourse and happy rainbow time when I am feeling cranky and need to get some agg out, as opposed to when I am feeling a bit vulnerable and sad. Then it just overwhelms me. Anyway there are lots of opportunities to engage on the Today Show facebook page. And then on their website: The lineup of stories and general comment thread. Monday, Nov. 4 Al Roker will share a story of a successful open adoption family. TODAY.com will share resources for parents considering adoption, including how to get started, costs, open adoptions and protecting yourself from scam sites.

Tuesday, Nov. 5 Kate Snow reports on how to navigate the challenges of adoption.

Wednesday, Nov. 6 Dr. Nancy Snyderman shares the story of her 27-year-old adopted daughter, Kate, finding and meeting her birth mother. In addition, Kate Snyderman will write an essay for TODAY.com about what meeting her birth mother meant to her.

Thursday, Nov. 7 TODAY will share the moment when a couple gets a new baby. And a 19-year-old will share her experience of being a foster child.

The “Gotcha” article is the biggest one with almost 100 comments. I got annoyed at it and have walked away. They just do not care. All week long TODAY’s Orange Room will follow stories using the hashtag #AdoptionTODAY. The things with the comments on the today show site which seems good is that the most recent ones go first! So there is actually a benefit to waiting after the happy hoopla dies die down to get some adoption truths int here for longevity!

Flagging Adoption Profiles on Craigslist

So while you cannot advertise to sell your baby on Craigslist, one can advertise FOR a baby! So technically the “event” which was organized and driven by the wonderful Lynn Johansenn was last night; BUT Craigslist is rather large and we live in big country, so it’s NEVER too late to join in. We have tried to battle the vastness of Craigslist before with last years Adoption Truth Project on Craigslist, so I strongly endorse this one as well! Remember, Craigslist is the number one ‘hook up’ site for private domestic infant adoptions  in the US. Bleh!

In honor of November National Adoption Awareness month! Participate in a chance to remove the ‘ads’ (which are against Craigslist guidelines) and educate those ‘in need of educating’ at the same time!

You can find details here on National Flagging Adoption Profiles Event There are also many of the links to the “Hoping to Adopt” profiles that already have been found and flagged. Just log into Craigslist and get flagging!
