Rye is a news junkie and sometimes I just have to be a pain and make him turn it off. As much as I love a good Rachel Maddow snarky fest, sometimes I just cannot take how incredible STUPID our elect politicians in Washington can be. It’s almost harder to watch their antics on TRMS or on Jon Stewart because it’s then so damn obvious how unrealistic and ideological and puritanical and judgmental theses goons in Washington can be. And yes, I usually do end up meaning the Republicans. I try to be fair, but the way I see it in general, the National Republican Party just hates women.

Idiots in the House..of Congress

For instance, watching the countdown last Friday night and wondering if these idiots could possible come to an agreement and deal with the budget so that the whole damn government did not have to shut down made me almost break down into hysterical crying. And here’s why:

So they were all fighting over the budget cuts. OK.. yes, we have to balance the budget; yes the federal deficit is scary; yes, I get all that, but even the reporters at the zero hour could not say whether or not the holdup was a mysterious number that the politicians could not possible reach or whether the sticking point was due to policy.

Attacking the Women of America Through Planned Parenthood

By policy, we mean Planned Parenthood. I’m going to assume that you already know about how House Republicans voted to strip federal funding from Planned Parenthood, cutting money for contraceptives, HIV tests, cancer screenings and reproductive health services . Why did they do that? because Planned parenthood provides abortions. Of course, Planned Parenthood does not currently spend federal money on abortion services, but that does not matter. They just want to CLOSE Planned Parenthood completely so they can “save unborn babies”.

So I take that to heart and it makes me cry because what it says to me is that the elected politicians in this country want women to suffer. They want women to feel like me. Or rather, they don’ t give a shit about me, or Max, or you, or my daughter or your daughter or you, they only care about some IDEA that makes them feel all warm and fuzzy at night and gets them elected.

What the Republicans are saying when they try to destroy Planned Parenthood is this:

You have no right to control your fertility or reproductive health. We aren’t even going to let you try anymore. For now on, you better not have sex unless you are 100% completely and totally ready to have a baby and raise it.

• If you are young, then you can’t have sex because we won’t let you have an affordable place to get birth control.
• If you are poor, then you can’t have sex because we won’t let you have an affordable place to get birth control.
• If you get raped and have sex, then it must be your own damn fault and you better hope you don’t get pregnant because we won’t let you have a place where you can have a safe and affordable abortion.
• If your birth control fails, then you are an idiot because you shouldn’t have had sex to begin with and you have to now pay because we won’t let you have access to the day after pills or a safe abortion.
