More of the Amazing Mary Gauthier

“Before You Leave” an Adoption Story

Once again, I find myself happy that I landed in this weird wide adoption world. Yes, I hate that adoption is in my life and probably always will hate how my family was separated. Yet, as always I am so thankful for all the wonderful people that I get to met along this journey.

One of those people is Mary Gauthier.

Amazing artist, singer songwriter, Grammy nominated, and yet, so real, so approachable, so down to earth. And, as an adoptee with her own amazing story to tell, such a wonderful voice bringing awareness to Adoptee Rights. We are all so blessed to have her on our side.

Adoptee Film: Before You Leave

Mary sent me a preview of a new project she was in and I almost feel off my chair. I can’t share the whole film with you yet….(I’m working on something really GOOD!) but I can tell you that this film is just beyond lovely. It’s beautifully shot with the marvelous Mary telling her story as only she can in between shots of her singing pieces from The Foundling.

Here’s a sneak peak of the trailer:

On top of that, the film maker is named Jack Ballo, and he’s super cool too!

Jack is the producer and director at Ultravision Films.  Over the last few years at Ultravision, Jack has been producing humanitarian films that are designed to bring awareness to non-profit foundations ( like Adoptee Rights!) Jack understands that bringing awareness to an issue is the first step to seeing change, something that we have all been doing as well! I really like the quote from his website:

“Everyone has the desire to fight for what they believe in. It’s not that the brave aren’t determined enough, it’s those who sit back and watch that make change so difficult.” -Jack Ballo

Adoptee Films Showing at the Garden State Film Festival March 25th!

Before You Leave is premiering at the Garden State Film Festival on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 4:00.
It’s only $10 and you can get you tickets for Before You Leave here:

Along with Before You Leave, there is also another Adoption centered film also showing called FOUND.
The filmmaker, Anthony Bushman, in this case is also an adoptee, who did a short film about an adoptee:

“Alex has always known he was adopted, but now an unexpected discovery starts him down the uncertain path to find answers from the most important woman he’s never met… his birth mother.”

It also looks good:

Mini Adoption Gathering in Jersey!

I’m thinking that a goodly number of local New York and New Jersey Adoption Peeps will be there and I am looking forward to seeing friends! So yes, I will be there! If you plan on going, let’s make some plans! We do have an event up for the showing on Facebook’s Adoptee Rights page, so planning for meeting up might be easier there! I’ll be driving down from Kingston, so if anyone is along the way..to quote Enterprise; “I’ll pick you up!”

More Reasons We Heart Mary Gauthier and Jack Ballo

Jack also made that fabulous YouTube page for the Foundling which supports the Adoptee Rights Coalition at http://www.youtube.com/user/TheFoundlingFilms If you can’t see Mary live, then watch this. Just make sure you have tissues handy.

Please make sure you give Jack a like on Facebook:

Don’t forget to give Mary Gauthier some love too as she tours the world singling and speaking about adoption and the need to open records!

Really.. a thumbs up, a like, a comment and share really really goes a LONG way to show the world that ADOPTEE RIGHTS MATTER.
