Adoption

Stars out of alignment…

It’s a bad time for us Tauruses. I mean, something is out of wack in the universe and I am really feeling it. Either that or 2007 is gonna be a doozie of a year. But I would rather chalk it up to a misalignment of planets. A few other of my Taurian counterparts have also suggested to me some bad emotional woes, so I know I am not alone….

Montel is on Monday!!

So much for advanced notice! Here’s the linky: And remember…keep a look out for the absolute horror I was trying to hide when he freaks out and is sitting next to me going off on “where can I get a baby!” I beleive it might be funny. and then tell him …write the letters..how insane he acted!!

The Utah Maternity Home Escape

I contacted the reporter of this story: Families of pregnant runaways worried NATALIE ANDREWS – Daily Herald A week ago, three pregnant teens allegedly hit a 53-year-old woman with a frying pan, tied her up with electrical cords and ran away with her SUV, credit card and cell phone. Still on the run, the girls’ running away from the New Hope Maternity Home on Jan. 16 has become fodder for…

New York State and 95-10 Initiative crap

Essay in Rochester, NY local paper about the 95-10 Initiative (NYS) ——————————————————————————– From this morning’s Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. Urge Abstinence, Adoptions (January 22, 2007) — Many analysts believe that despite the pro-choice gains netted by the Democratic Party in the 2006 election, that the election outcome was more a statement about our country’s dissatisfaction with the Iraq war than a referendum on abortion. Still, not one Democratic incumbent who…

So this Thusday…

A car is coming to pick me up. I took the night off from work. I have a new back suit, and a pretty pink blouse. Even bought new shoes..well, it was a good excuse to buy new shoes, anything is a good excuse to buy new shoes. I AM having a hair crisis, as I really, really need a real hair cut. I mean real becasue I never go…

NY Open Adoption Ruling

Back in early November, there was a ruling passed down in NY where a mom wo had reliquised her rights but was assured visitation with the child. She was cut out of visitation and took the matter to court. And she won! Lots of questions came up with this case..lots of discussions. The original article is here. Anyway, I finally got the full text from NY law review. Thank you…

My Corrigans.

I don’t speak much about my own father. I haven’t seen him in 20 years, haven’t spoken to him in almost 13. I pretty much consider myself an orphan. My mom is passed..and my father…just out there..somewhere. He wasn’t the greatest. He had issues, of which I will probably never completely understand. My parents marrige was like oil and water…very odd dynamics with me, an only child, somewhere in the…

Tis and Tat

Newsy bits and all… Sad story playing out now in adoption legal land between Georiga and Florida. High school kids get PG and mom places baby. Dad and dad’s family have no intention of consenting to the relinquishment, but….baby is already gone!! Off to Florida. Seems dad did fill out all paperwork as needed by Georgia to claim the child 5 days after birth ( he has 30) but the…

Somewhere in China

I wrote this for Marsha. I like Marsha. She’s a mod over at SoA, an interfamily adoptee heself (sent her ribbons for her and her mom), has a daughter from China and is waiting for her older son from there too. She gets it and I find myself agreeing with things she says. She is into educating other China AP’s about China moms being real and having feelings like us…

Small Splash, Big Meaning

It’s not at all like Madonna’s adoption story. They aren’t talking about this on Oprah, or every news media outlet, but even with just a small almost silent plop in the pond, “Birth Mother Entitled to Visitation with Child Given Up for Adoption” Posted on November 21, 2006 by Daniel Clement has the ability to sure make some waves. It’s not going to hit the big media. Don’t look for…

Connections of Deceit

So the glee that has been felt that the evil Infant Adoption Awarness training grant (8.6 million in our tax money and went to four different “groups” to make the trainings..the largest one, with the biggest chunk of the pie was the National Council for Adoption ( recieved 6.1 million)..aka the big fat adoption lobby group that of course WANTS to promote adoption.) is over this year, has been short…

For once and for all!

Oh, lots and lots of discussion on the “B” term going on..and I don’t think I shall shy away from posting my view on the round and rounds going on, but…this has lead ( again!) to the question of: WHO COINED THE WORD BIRTH MOTHER??? It has been attributed to CUB. I have read that Betty Jean Lifton came up with it. I have heard it being used by Pearl…

Twelve out of Twelve: #2 KP series

Headline: Twelve out of Twelve Scientific Studies find that Relinquishing a Child to Adoption is Harmful to your Health! In the summer of 1999, two certified nurse midwifes published a piece in The Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing. They took the twelve existing studies on relinquishing mothers from 1978 to date of publication and grouped the data and compared. Their final conclusion? “The relinquishing mother is at risk…
