Musings of the Lame was started in 2005 primarily as a simple blog recording the feelings of a birthmother as she struggled to understand how the act of relinquishing her first newborn so to adoption in 1987 continued to be a major force in her life. Built from the knowledge gained in the adoption community, it records the search for her son and the adoption reunion as it happened. Since then, it has grown as an adoption forum encompassing the complexity of the adoption industry, the fight to free her sons adoption records and the need for Adoptee Rights, and a growing community of other birthmothers, adoptive parents and adopted persons who are able to see that so much what we want to believe about adoption is wrong.

Claude, was just thinking of you and many others today..and thought I’d see if Musings of the Lame is still current….bless you.
    You are amazing.

It all seems like a long, long time ago when we all spent hours and hours talking our hearts out.
You know, bad hours/days/weeks still happen for me. I don’t think there is any peace re the adoption thing, the loss thing..no matter how reunited and drawn together we get to be with the child, now adult man/woman we “gave away”.
Ten years on, I just think, well that’s how it is.
But, you know, it still takes me by surprise sometimes and old, old grief and deep, deep painful stirrings overtake me.
I nearly lost my life drowning in the intense grief when I finally “woke up” and it’s only in the last 4-5 years I have gradually got better…truely.
Not that many people would know that on the outside in my real day to day life…not many people actually knew how I was dying, dying, dying with pain. Hid it. I mean, hid the worst of it.
    Felt like a zombie sometimes.

Just wanted to say I’ve never forgotten you and so many others.
We all know who they are…love to all…and to you, Claud.
    Phoebe.

  2. PHOEBE!!!! OMG I MISS YOU!!!

(If anyone else reads this you should know that Phoebe is one of the greatest women I have ever met ( though I have yet to really sit in a room with her) and I am only what I am today, in truth, from learning from her.)
I was just thinking of the comparision between adoption and reprogramming a computer the other day of yours..pure brillance! ANd Phobe was the one who spoke to Sarah’s mother nad made her fight for her daughter’s rights to parent her baby!
Come back Phobes!! Oh I think I have you’re email addy saved someplace!

  3. We are so glad to have you with us.
