Nice floor…

I followed the Fed Ex truck down the street yesterday, feeling all excited as I knew my red tiles were in it!!! And so, to beat my own procrastination, I did it. It was a bear, but it is done. Today I finished scraping the glue off and gave it the polish coat…

The kitchen table and chairs are back. As is the dog food, much to Lilly’s delight. Would you believe she is still a puppy? I still have to shine up all the chrome on the table and chairs, and finish repainting the cabinets, but it feels sooo clean again.

Also got to rake a bit today. Al this stuff I do is so bad for my back, but I just can’t help it. I adore it when it gets warm and I can putz around in the gardens again. This year will be a big challenge as the back yard is trashed from the dog and the kids..real bad. And the front was looking pretty white trash with all Rye’s tools out there from him “working on the Jeep”..which apparently still is NOT done..whatever.

But look at my little pretties that are poking out of the leaves!!! I found so many today when I raked. And my tulips are coming up too..and my daffs..I have to fill the flower boxes next. Every year, I buy a bunch of tulips and daffs and put them in the window box and then transplant them to the dirt, so I keep adding on a bit every year.
I raked out the strawberry patch too. I still have frozen ones left over from last year..I get SO many berries it is insane! I can’t give them away.

I have so much regular cleaning to do. These people I live with..they are just slobs. I really cannot keep up. And they don’t help. Yesterday, I wanted to do a load of whites..so I asked Rye for his socks. Now he has a habit of taking off his socks when he sits at his desk..so under his desk there is a pile of like 15 pairs of socks..ewwww. And he would NOT let me take them. Actually fought me for them. WTF? They were in “his area” and for some reason, I cannot clean “his area”. It’s like his holdover of bachelor space or something??? Not as though he is actually neat in the rest of the house..I can pick up after him every where else? But don;t touch the sacred dirty socks. OK. They are still there. Smelly.

Oh, check this out. I think it is really, really good. GO Canada!!

Musings of the Lame was started in 2005 primarily as a simple blog recording the feelings of a birthmother as she struggled to understand how the act of relinquishing her first newborn so to adoption in 1987 continued to be a major force in her life. Built from the knowledge gained in the adoption community, it records the search for her son and the adoption reunion as it happened. Since then, it has grown as an adoption forum encompassing the complexity of the adoption industry, the fight to free her sons adoption records and the need for Adoptee Rights, and a growing community of other birthmothers, adoptive parents and adopted persons who are able to see that so much what we want to believe about adoption is wrong.

    Re. “Go Canada”:
“The right to fight for FULL DISCLOSURE IN ALL ADOPTIONS, PAST AND PRESENT, and to demand legally binding contracts for contact between the mother and her child in present open adoptions.”

Alas for Ontario, which is the most populous province in the country. Bill 183 bottomed up as far as I’m concerned. The bill as it stands contains both a contact veto, carrying a $50,000 fine for violation thereof, *and* a disclosure veto if it can be shown that disclosure of information will cause harm.
It’s really a ‘non-disclosure’ bill because it allows adult parties to an adoption to put a lid on the release of info. So much for our vaunted progressive attitudes.
    This is sad.

  9. It’s a pit bull! ANd she looks like my moms dog Bandit! I love you even more now Claud, excellent taste in animals! And I love the floor and flowers! *WOOT WOOT* Spring is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Me too! Love the floor. How very cool! I love the homey look of your kitchen! Man, you are a woman of many talents!

Crocuses? Very pretty! I need to do some planting soon! My garden needs some TLC. Will post some photos once it’s thriving again.

Spring is my fav – though living in SoCal, the weather’s go temperate here nearly all year. We almost had snow a few weeks ago though – okay, so it was hail, but, on the ground, it’s as close to snow as we ever get.

  11. Your floor looks great!!! I think your table is really cool too.

I tried forever to find a turquoise (sp?) formica top table with matching chairs but no luck. I have this whole kitchen image in my mind.

There was this show Brett Butler did years back, I think it was called Grace on Fire or something like that. She had a turquiose fridge. You know, the 50’s style with the pull handle and an ice box the size of a half gallon of ice cream?

I loved that thing and ever since dreamed of this retro turquoise kitchen! lol

    You did a nice job.
