Looking for Repeat Offenders in the World or Unethical Adoptions

Adoption's evil clowns

What Adoption Agency or Attorney Names Come Up Again and Again?

Adoption's evil clowns

While there is little question that something rotten is happening with South Carolina’s Nightlight Christian Agency and Roger Godwin, there is no way that they are the only two dirty birds playing in the adoption sandbox.  There are quite a few names that seem to pop up again and again when talking about adoption horror stories, but I can’t say that I know all the evil clowns in adoption.

For one, I have only first hand knowledge of my own agency experience 26 years ago. And while my agency is still going strong, they have usually played very up and up, so their noses are pretty clean. I’m probably the worst problem they have.

Of course, the other issue is that there are SO many adoption agencies and lawyers brewing their own batches of kool-aide, that it is downright impossible to keep track of them all in any sense and very little in the formal way or collecting reports of particular experiences. Plus what the heck does one DO with that information anyway? It’s not like anyone cares, right?

What if I said someone cares that it would be good to have not only a running list of the particular bad professionals in adoption, but it would be sure great to know a few people who dealt with these unsavory characters first hand? You know this way, when someone asks ” Hey who should we go after first?”, we are prepared.

What if I asked begged that you please pretty please made a point to pass this one around to your various groups and pages so such a hot list of bad characters could get moving NOW so it will be ready when the world is? Could you do that for me? Could you let me know who YOU are watching or keep hearing about?

The Adoption Miscreants  I’m Watching

A Act of Love and Kathleen Kunkle have been on my radar for some time, but I am hardly the only one. A Act of Love has been involved in more than one of the Thwarted Fathers in Utah Adoptions. Would love to know how a mom or two faired or if A Act of Love became privy to an unless supply of complacent Mormans. Maybe they traded in their collected memories of proper English grammar for extra special Kool-aide boosters?

I know an Oklahoma connection to Nightlight and Godwin exists and am just drying to flush out this pipeline. There has to be a local Oklahoma adoption agency, or facilitator, or even a crisis pregnancy front that is roping in the pregnant and at risk for adoption mom and feeding them to Godwin and Nightline for South Carolina couples. I was given a name, but I have no proof at all, so I’m going to sit on that for now.

I’m always listening for new rumblings for Michael Shorstein in Florida. Shorstein & Kelly  are known to be beyond ruthless. I would normally put down Angles of Love , infamous for their role played in the unethical adoption relinquishment of Baby Grayson as well on this list, but it seems that they might be out of business? I would still keep the names Jill And John Bopp on my register!

I would love to know more about the inner dealings with  Karen Lane out in California. I have heard her name about, but when I went to her website and I see this on her “recommended reading; so it got me going!

Fast Track Adoption: The Faster, Safer Way to Privately Adopt a Baby by Susan Burns, Psy.D Learn how to become pro-active in the adoption process and significantly speed up the adoption. Forward by Karen R. Lane, Esq., Founder and Past President of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys”

So the back story here.. Fast Track Adoption is about getting a baby fast, without the “help” of agencies. It is about being “engaged” with the “birthparents”, so you can see any “warning signs that may foreshadow bigger problems ahead”.  Susan Burns is an adoptive mother who used these methods to adopt her daughter…without, of course, letting her daughter’s birthmother know. Her name was Cindy Jordan and she was a member of the online adoption community. The APs closed the adoption and jerked her around. THEN she found out about the book and how she was used. She took her own life in 2004 when her daughter was 3.

It’s basically KNOWN to be one of THE worst books out.. and the fact that she still recommends it? She wrote the forward? I’m now convinced that she has no soul, but of course would like facts, not just my own gut feeling.

I’ll probably always be looking out for Jennifer Marando and her sister to pop up in the adoption world again.   With their infamous Ohio adoption agency “A Child’s Waiting“, this sister set was involved in the horrible 20/20 adoption show which was glorified promotion for them and then they were involved in the Evelyn Bennett unethical adoption.  I believe after that they did get sanctioned and investigated by the state  and perhaps they will stay away from baby brokering, but I’m not holding my breath.

Your Adoption Fantasy: Who Is the Evilest One (two, 6, 20…)?

But see.. even this list starts going back almost 10 years. Meanwhile the babies keep getting peddled.  And really, I do only have two ears two eyes.

So who else you got? If you could see perhaps someone go DOWN in your best adoption fantasy, who would it be and why? Comment here or if you have sensitive information are afraid of getting sued for slander on a public forum email me at FixAdoption@gmail.com.
