Life is not a box of chocolates….

it’s mixed nuts!

Been so out of the loop! Wednesday morning I woke up and relaized that I had been hit with a flu…fever, chills, bad sore throat, aching bones, sweats, headache..all but the belly heaves. I lost two days in bed. Two beautiful sunny days which I was planing on gardeneing, and cleaning, and getting the Easter stuff together, plus Rye’s day off, kids home from school, etc…
Recovered on time for Friday..where I had to put the house back together as Rye decided that day one of sickie Claud he would do nothing, and day two..instead of just cleaning up and maintaining…he would SCRUB. Sounds nice, but he likes to rip things apart and not put them back….so I have two carpets STILL outside drying from being hosed??? Why when I have my MIL’s carpet steamer here..and then they got rained on…it would have been easier to just laod the dishwasher..so I cleaned up his mess from cleaning..and then went to work.
Where I was asked to work on Sat. night, unscheduled and uinplanned, becasue one of my co workers is in the hospital..so of course, I say yes…but that means that I have just Sat until 5 to get caught up on Easter…

So I get up at a decent time and get moving. I have to go out by myself so that the kids don’t get wise on my bunny moves. Rye is home til 1:30..obsessed with a new video game…one he bought for me..hee hee ..bless his little soul..he still thinks that the computer is for games..and I just need a good game to get me re focused..lol..Anyhoo, I got out..run to Target, get the candy, colorful bags.(I stopped with actual baskets years ago), and can’t find any chocolate bunnies. Low on time..and really do they get toeat the whole bunny? No I hide them. Little candy is easier to control..so I get Scarlett and tristan a Doddle bear and a Doodle Monster respectivly. They had been asking for them and I fiqure it will last longer than candy anyway. Cute rain coats..pink and Sponge Bob, umbrellas, Hello Kitty and SBSP, new undies of the same, stickers, etc.
Too mauch money later, and I get home..didn;t forget to get two dozen eggs..YEH!
Keep basket stuff in car…bring in eggs and biol to muchly excited kids. Use boiling time to convince them to clean rooms and TV room and get dressed…they will do anything to color eggs! Rye is still playing his game.
Prepare dyes, ready eggs..not one cracked in the boiling process..A FIRST time ever in my life for this!
The dying process continues…sucessfully. Tristan does NOT stick his whole hand in the dye. He will not resemble the Hulk this year..again a first. We only lose two to the floor..and that’s OK ..we call them lunch. Eggs done, salad made and eating..and I am ahead of the game…so I think. I go to sit at my beloved keyboard…but Nooooo..the doorbell rings.
It’s Rye’s Aunt Colleen and cousin Teirno..stopping by to drop off invitations to Tierno’s Bday party. Col is my age and Tierno only 9 months older than Scarlett..so we chat while the kids play. We are outside in the back yard when Garin return’s home from sleeping over Bucky’s and skating about with his croonies. I am thinking Oh good..he is earlier since he is sitting the kids later when I work, but alas..he has a tale to tell.
So the kids…four biys ages 12 to 14…are out and about on this lovely sunny day skateboarding. They go to the local abandoned bank buliding where other injenious skateboarders have cleaned up the broken glass from the crackheads and built ramps and jumps out of old plywood. Word on the street is that they have a cool outdoor skate area. All fine and good, but aparently the guy who owns this dead building is no fan of boys on skateboards..I guess the crackheads are better?
So he blasts out of the buliding and starts screaming and yelling at the kids, takes their boards. Now..I have to say…I know these kids..and they are GOOD kids..they skate..that’s it…that’s what they do..and that’s IT. And IF the guy had just said..get out, then they would have left..maybe been a bit mouthy about it..as they are boys with overflowing testasterone, but they would have left..but this nut takes their boards…and that is just not goig to fly..and they are mad..especially since one of the boards is brand new..and they are fighting, verbally, for this guy to give them back, and Bucky goes to grab his..and the guy hits him with a huge stick that he had been waving about…and then the nut calls the police.
And the police come..and side with the guy..and the kids don;t say anything about getting hit, they just want thier boards back..which they get, but the police also say to them:
We don’t like skateboarders…
And accuse them of breaking glass..
Now we know we you all live, we are going to go to your houses and break all the wndows and make ramps for our cars and see how you like it.
Yeah, nice role models..and I tell these kids to be respectful of this??

So this is the story that I get..and my Momma bear is PO’d. One Bucky has a HUGE lump on his leg were he got hit by the stick ( I took pictures)..and the cop..he should just NOT have talked like that and treated these kids like crap. So I call the department..and they send over another officer to speak to me and the boys. Just to get it on record. And it goes well..and the other parents show up to get their boys too..and we have to all talk..and I have to explain it again and again..meanhwile the kids are running about, Col is still over and thankfully, I thought to stick on my work clothes while I was waiting for the cop..one for time as it was geting close to five, and two because I would look a bit more presentable than my CBGB’s T shirt and ripped jeans..lol. Make up and clothes in 5 minutes…
I get the kids, parents, police, cousins, aunts, and all out the door just in time for 5 and I go to work…just like that.

Where it is total chaos..as they have opened the patio fully..with one server..and he is in the weeds..so I take tables outside, and inside..and the night goes on…and on..and on…

This morning I layed in bed…and KNEW that Scarlett was having a candy breakfast.
I didn’t care. She is sooo wired now..lol.
Happy Easter!!

Musings of the Lame was started in 2005 primarily as a simple blog recording the feelings of a birthmother as she struggled to understand how the act of relinquishing her first newborn so to adoption in 1987 continued to be a major force in her life. Built from the knowledge gained in the adoption community, it records the search for her son and the adoption reunion as it happened. Since then, it has grown as an adoption forum encompassing the complexity of the adoption industry, the fight to free her sons adoption records and the need for Adoptee Rights, and a growing community of other birthmothers, adoptive parents and adopted persons who are able to see that so much what we want to believe about adoption is wrong.

  1. Phew!

My goodness. I was exhausted just reading that account.

  2. Sorry about all the skateboarding crap. Sounds like the poor kids got totally shafted. I’m glad they got their boards back, but they certainly didn’t deserve what else they got.
    Hope you feel better soon.
Hey, maybe ‘wired’ isn’t that bad?
    Now there’s an idea . . .

    Happy Easter.

  3. Oh my stars! Good thing you were there to help them handle it! Your boy sounds like such a cool kid. I didn’t even try dying eggs. Maybe next year?

  4. Wow. You are totally amazing. Being able to do all that on short notice and after being sick. Whew.

Good for you in filing a report. Police just don’t have a good rep in NY At All. I hope that he gets fired.

  5. What a load of crap, that guy hitting the boys with sticks! I am not a sue happy person but I would maybe make an exception for that jerk.

You are a true multi-tasker! Our eggs are boiled but not dyed in the fridge. I wonder what the rules are about dying eggs the day after Easter? hmmmm

Don’t feel bad about the sugar breakfast. I don’t know a parent on the planet that could stop that from happening on Easter Sunday! Nor why they would. At some point you just have to say….OH WHATEVER. It’s one day a year. ;o)

  6. What a busy time you have! Crazy! Good for you for making the police more accountable!

  7. What is it with police and skateboarders? Our local police are tough on them too. Heck, they ought to like them, without them there’d be almost no crime in our town!

  8. Just dropping by for a quick peek.. hope all is well w/you. No word on ‘the letter?’

    Hugs
