It’s NOT About Vaginas

The war on women might be about race?

It’s About Race and White Supremacy

I’m going off on a political rant now.

I actually posted this on Facebook last week and the commentary lead me to this article called The Truth Behind the Abortion Debate. This article was extremely interesting to me because offered an answer  to something I had been already pondering.

This whole election has just made me feel HATED for being a women and I am just having trouble understanding it. I have trouble understanding we are having these conversations with the other side. I have trouble understanding WHY there even IS another side!

So it began as this late night thought which became an early morning Facebook status:

During the 2008 elections, I was so proud that somehow it seemed NOT to be about race. The only time I looked at President Obama as a Black man was during the victory celebration and inauguration – only to share the pride and joy of those who dedicated their lives to equality.

Yet the other night, during the last debate, I turned to Rye  and said, “it is about race, isn’t it?
Because it’s so clear that some people will just hate everything the President does, everything he says, and everything he stands for…..no matter what. They wanted him to fail since the get go…and they made it as hard as possible to do his job. I don’t believe anymore that it’s because of the “policy” issues. This depth of stubbornness, this willingness to go so low, this blind refusal to see reality and have a shrewd of humanity….it can only be caused by a true deep hatred and fear. I can come to no other conclusion.

it’s about race and they can’t admit it, so they flail around, spurt stupidity and think they are getting away with something.

Just say it: you hate Barak Obama because he is a black man. You fear him so much that you don’t know what to do with yourselves. Just be real and admit who you are:
You are a racist.

Where I Pull the Race Card

For me, this really was a realization.

I don’t like having conversations about race. I imagine that sounds horrible, but the way I see it. I rather agree with Morgan Freeman and I have no real right to try to speak about racism. But, I guess I have to call it when I see it even though it makes me really, really sad.

Anyway, this thought, this realization lead to a conversations. The conversations lead to links and further reading and eventfully I found this article, written by Dr. William C. Small.

As much as I really, really do not want to admit it, it kind of makes a whole lot of sense.

They don’t hate and fear women based on vagina envy or fear of the power of procreation or just because they hate their mothers. They NEED us for our Vaginas, the power of procreation and to BE mothers….to stay ahead of the Latinos and Blacks.

Read.. tell me what you think. I have the whole thing here with added links to the referenced articles and studies. I also have bolded certain passages that I found intriguing.

The Truth behind the Abortion Debate

A NY Times article by Sabrina Tavernise (May 17, 2012) Whites Account for Under Half of Births in U.S.  reveals the reason conservative republicans are hell bent on passing laws against abortion and contraception.

The lead line in the article reads “After years of speculation, estimates and projections, the Census Bureau has made it official: White births are no longer a majority in the United States.” This is the primary reason behind the new found conservative ferver over abortion.
The issue over abortion was settled by Supreme Court decision in 1973 but abortion suddenly became a hot button political issue again in the mid 1980’s.
The question is: what happened in the mid 80’s that caused conservatives to go crazy over abortion, project it into the political debate, lead them to kill doctors, bomb clinics and clamor for a political policy to override Roe v Wade?
A report issued by the Hudson Institute for the US Employment and Training Administration entitled “Workforce 2000: Work and Workers for the 21st Century” is what happened.
Workforce 2000 predicted by the year 2020 white male population in America would reach “zero” growth. That is, one white male born; one white male dies. It also predicted that by the year 2050 whites would become a minority in America. Hispanics would be the majority population and Blacks would be second.
Workforce 2000 also asserted that some of the reasons for the dramatic shift in population was due to white women entering the workforce, deciding to delay having children, deciding to have fewer children, and using abortion as a means of birth control.
Workforce 2000 motivated white male conservatives (who controlled the White House in the 80’s and early 90’s under Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr.) to use their power to make abortion a hot button political issue. That is when white men began declaring to white women: If you are pregnant, we don’t care whether you were raped, a victim of incest or your life may be in jeopardy, you are going to have that baby!

The reality that the estimates and projections of Workforce 2000 are coming into fruition in 2012 (as reported by the US Census Bureau) is motivating white male republican conservatives who control governorships and legislatures in over 2 dozen states to pass laws that circumvent Roe. These statistics are leading republican conservatives in the US Senate and House of Representatives to write legislation that restricts women’s right to certain types of abortion and access to contraceptives.

Republican conservatives proclaim that they are pro-life. In reality they are actually pro white life. This is the reason they see nothing wrong with having a panel comprised only of white men to discuss or decide issues relative to abortion or contraception. These white men have determined that it is their duty to protect the white race from becoming a minority and losing the economic status associated with being the majority.

According to an article published in The Economist, Minority Report: White America’s collapsing birth rate is changing the face of the country, May 31, 2011, America’s population grew 9.7% between 2000 and 2009 but minorities accounted for 92% of that growth. During that time America’s white population grew only 1.2%. A report entitled The New Demography of American Motherhood, May 11, 2012, by the Pew Research Center also acknowledges that this birth trend continues.
The Times article cited above states whites accounted for 49.6% of all US births in the 12 month period that ended July 2011. For the first time in US history minority births reached 50.4%. Minorities are currently a majority among the nation’s 3 year old population. There are 348 US counties in which whites are no longer in the majority. In many metro areas whites have fallen below 50% such as New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas and Memphis. Then, there are many heavily populated states, e.g., California, Texas, New Mexico and Hawaii where whites have become a minority as well.
Table 83, Total fertility Rate by Race and Hispanic Origin: 1980 to 2007 in the US Census Bureau Statistical Abstract: Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces, 2011 reveals that Black and Hispanic births have been outpacing Whites as far back as 1980. Hence, the reason the Workforce 2000 report (published in the mid 80’s) set off race preservation alarms, gave prominence to the so-called “Reagan democrat” and gave rise to the so-called “red state”.
Whites still comprise over 63% of the overall US population but they are aging. The median age for whites is 42. The majority of white women are moving out of their prime reproductive years. The median age of Hispanics by comparison is 27. Thus, being at peak fertility, Hispanic women gave birth to 26% of the nation’s children in the fiscal year that ended last July. Between 2000 and 2010 there were more Hispanic births in America than there were arriving Hispanic immigrants. Yet, white republican conservatives are staunchly fighting against immigration in an effort to stem growth of the Hispanic population.
The abortion debate also uncovers the real reason there is heavy conservative resistance to the Obama presidency. It has nothing to do with Obama’s policies. It has everything to do with white supremacy. A black man cannot be viewed by white youth as intelligent and capable of leading the nation back from the brink of economic collapse created by white men. White political leaders are struggling therefore, to the economic detriment of their constituents, to keep the perception of intelligence and competence as the purview of white men.
Finally, the struggle for white “male” supremacy is also the reason conservative republicans have so much contempt for Hillary. For them, women like her (tough smart leaders) are causing the decline of the white race. The more successful she is in the boardroom the harder it will be for them to force other white women into the delivery room.

Really? Abortion,  Controlling Contraceptives, Forcible Rape;  It’s About Race?

I don’t feel quite as personally hated as a women, now, but that’s not a good thing.

I’m guessing that these racists need us nice white women to get all knocked up (and I guess that’s why they don’t CARE who raises the damn kid, we just got to get another kid out there), but I don’t get off on feeling needed like that. Since it’s just so disgusting and dirty to me to even think like that, it makes me feel used, dirty and cheap. You would think that they would be nicer to us fertile myrtles, but maybe not everyone is in on the “grand plan”. Like maybe THIS is what they talk about at Bohemian Cove??

I mean maybe it’s not true; maybe it’s only true for some people, but I don’t care. Racism is also such a LOUSY reason to do all these horrible things to women. It makes me want to fight for us even more.

I wish it didn’t make as much sense. I know I was looking for a reason, but I really hate this answer. Explain to me why it just doesn’t work, please.

  1. I am sorry to say that I have come to the same conclusion myself lately that racism is the issue. I cannot remember any other POTUS being so debased, called names or insulted as President Obama has been.

  2. Of course it is racism on both fronts…

In regards to President Obama – when was the last time you ever heard someone compare a sitting President to a basket ball player? Never right? They are compared with previous Presidents. Yet Peggy Noonan (? pretty sure it was her) did just that just a couple of days ago…I think it was Lebron who she compared President Obama too.

  3. Ummm…comparing a sitting President to a basketball player as innapropriate? Former President Bush (2) was called everything from “dummy” to “Hitler” during his time in office, so would the natural conclusion then be reverse racism?

Let’s keep it real please. When you lobby for, achieve & accept as high profile a position as the President of the United States, you must accept that with the job perks, also comes criticism, praise, genuine reflection and critique on the job you have done, will do or need to do.

To imply that this current election comes down to race or rather that if folks don’t vote to keep Obama in office it is pure racism or black hatred is foolish. To remove the right and privelege to vote for whomever we citizens feel is the best person suited for the position (and an enormous task btw given all the turmoil and issues at hand) is a slippery slope. I would hope that a vote for Obama is not cast because he is black or out of fear of looking biased but rather because someone feels he is the best choice to lead this country to prosperity. Likewise a vote cast against him and for the other candidate speaks to that person’s belief that he is better suited to tackling the issues at hand and leading this country successfully.

As to abortion…..many people whom you believe are currently against it, are not in fact in favor of stripping a woman of their right to choose as is protected by law….we are however adamantly opposed to PAYING for it with tax money when that goes against our personal code of beliefs, religious convictions and morals. I take no issue with a woman who elects to have an abortion, though I would not choose it for myself. I do not wish, however, wish to fund it with my tax dollars. Therein lies the difference.

    • I really don’t care how we insult the President… I called GW a “shrub” for 6 years. What has lead me to this conclusion is just the pure hatred that defies logic to me. Sorry, I just do not understand how certain elected officials ( and non elected public figures and the general population)qualify their positions. I’m not talking about some person who watches Fox and just, foolishly, IMO, believes Romney hacks. I’m talking about the overall desire to see the President fail.

The problem is that we do not get to choose where our tax money goes to. I don’t support paying for the federal grants that fund the Infant Adoption Awareness Program nor do I support the Adoption Tax Credit. The same absence of logic that goes towards the pure hatred of the President also fuels my feelings towards the overall “pro-life” segment. If they want to reduce abortions then supporting birth control access makes sense, but they don’t do that. ( great example here: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/lovejoyfeminism/2012/10/how-i-lost-faith-in-the-pro-life-movement.html)

      WHY??

  4. The pro-life agenda is not just to deny federal funding for abortions. It is to outlaw all abortions except some will allow an exception for cases of rape, incest or life/health of the mother.

  5. Sure, everyone who doesn’t want to vote for Obama is racist. I am sure that it has nothing at all to do with them feeling that he has done a poor job as president. I am so relieved to know that Bush was never made fun of or criticized. So happy that Clinton didn’t face that either, you know, since he is white. And thank you for setting me straight on abortion. People who are pro-life are really just racists. Such a relief to have the answer. I really thought it was because some people believe in the sanctity of life, especially with babies who have no voice of their own. Some people believe that life truly begins at conception (shockingly even with the black babies). I am so happy that you did not discuss the origin of Planned Parenthood. You know, how the founder felt abortion was an effective way to decrease the number of black babies born. Thank you so very much for wrapping it all up in a nice little bundle. It’s just racism…right?

  6. Anon 9:06 – Not sure how anyone could ever condone speaking bad about the sitting President. I was brought up to hold respect for the office which included respect for the President…something that seems to have been neglected in many peoples early childhood lessons…

I am speaking about the comparison made by a well-known long-term political pundit in the media. Crosses the line for me – makes me think of “Fox”…and having one “Fox” is too many.

  7. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for a while, but just a little comment. As someone who is a “mixed-race” child or whatever the newest label is, I think I can fairly safely say that I am not racist. I grew up with black kids, white kids, hispanic kids, middle-eastern kids, and it never every occurred to me think of them as white or black or whatever, they were just my friends. That said, I can assure that I have never met a single person who was pro-life because of racism. Obviously I have not met everybody, and maybe there are some wackos who are anti-abortion because of racism, whatever, they’re wackos, they don’t represent the pro-lifers. I and those I know are for life because we believe that the baby is a human being with all the rights of a human being from the moment of conception, and we would make that argument for any color baby. Also as a conservative woman pursuing a career I find this article offensive. It in no way represents the views of any conservative person that I have every met. And finally I do not think of President Obama as a black man, I think of him as the POTUS, and as such I disagree with his policy decisions, if he were white or green I would still disagree with his policy decisions.
I hope that didn’t come across as rude, I do enjoy reading your blog, and I really appreciate much of what you had to say. It’s because of my respect for you that I comment now. Hope that makes sense. 🙂
