The Only National Group Focused on Birth Mothers and Birth Fathers!

cub the birth parent groupFounded in the spring of 1975 by Lee Campbell,  Concerned United Birthparents (CUB) is the only national organization focused on birthparents – their experiences, healing and wisdom.  CUB serves all those touched by adoption and all who are concerned about adoption issues.  Although their focus is on birthparents, long the forgotten people of the adoption community, CUB welcomes adoptees, adoptive parents, and professionals.

Know the Ones Who Paved the Way in AdoptionLand

I finally sat down to watch this last night. It’s Lee Campbell in Phil Donahue in 1979. That’s eight full years before I relinquished. I was 11 years old when I this aired.
Talk about coming out of the closet! Talk about the unknown voice of a birthmother. While everyone was so polite, notice the same issues, the same stories, the same fears, the same stereotypes. It’s long, but well worth a watch just to begin to be able to appreciate the very long road that so many have had to walk before us so we CAN use those voices now.

I am proud to be a member of CUB and strongly encourage other birthmothers ( and birth fathers)  to invest a small amount of time and money to join up. There is a welt of information and knowledge in the historic archives and, more importantly, from the birthmothers who have been walking this path longer than myself or others. Despite changes in the the ways adoption has been practices, the pain and loss from being separated form our children has no boundaries.
